I have a trip to Europe coming soon and like any artist who goes to amazing locations I would love to take my sketchbook with me, and some watercolors or gouache, and sketch the town to bring back home my own interpretation of what I see.
Now, it sounds really fun and romantic but it can be really hard to try to paint the city when you are as rusty painting landscapes from life as I am. So I have been watching videos and tutorials, trying to figure out what’s the best way to go about it. Maybe it’s best to just start painting and getting used to drawing something in less than one hour.
Like I mentioned, I don’t do this often so I’m trying to figure out the best way to go about it. I am excited about learning new techniques and painting cool looking buildings. Here are some photos of my supplies, really the last time I was out in the sun doing plein air. If I’m planning to do this in Europe I should probably pack a much lighter case. Hopefully next time I write my blog post I can show you guys some sketches.
[Have a great trip Andrea!]
